I was on Eastney Beach a couple of weeks back. It was a hot and sunny Monday and around five of us had the beach to ourselves. The weekend had been hot and it was clear from the amount of rubbish that it had been well visited. Why, when there are enough issues to deal with regarding the beach, do users not take their rubbish home with them? There were banana skins and apple cores, empty tin cans and discarded crisp packets, discarded silver foil and empty sun cream bottles. For goodness sake, it takes the work of a moment to take your rubbish home and it leaves the beach in pristine condition for other users!

New website setup on behalf of ENF.

www.fraserbeach.org.uk

Even given the recent news and signing (in a matter of days) of the new Deed of Release which allows everyone guaranteed access to the Qinetiq beach this will further strengthen the campaign and could stop any "riggle-room" by Qinetiq.

Slightly concerned that it was suddenly sprung on the Cabinet (or was it?) although the public weren't exactly informed as this is the first I've heard of it.

Having said that this guarantees us access to the beach - everyone. And does not affect the Planning Proposal from Qinetiq. So its a massive improvement...No anti-naturist clauses either. The flats idea can still be thrown out given the initial plan was submitted back in December 2005.

Overall, I think we can be pleased with this.

Sounds good to me! Will be making the trip down in a couple of weeks. Just hope the weather doesn't let me down!

The beach is getting a lot of use.  The guards seem to only show up on grey, miserable days when there aren't going to be scores of beach users to turn away!

Hoping to get to the beach in the next couple of weeks for the first time this year. Are the security Guards showing up much at the moment? Also is the beach getting much use during the week at the moment?

In many ways this forum is no different to most others in that it has more viewers than contributors. You are probably right in saying that the primary interest here is about the current state of access to the beach. However, the beach is full of very friendly people and it would be good to have more of them signed up to this campaign and even improve the social aspect of it.

Enjoy the beach whilst the summer is here and please come back to this forum as often as you like for the latest news and let's hope you get responses in the future.  Smiley

117 views and no replies Huh?

I guess this forum is only interested in QinetiQ and not in being sociable  Undecided

I probably also shouldn't expect anyone to say hello when I'm next visiting the beach then?
